Planing an Exhibition

I probably should have done this a long time ago but I am just beginning to figure out what I want my final presentation to be. Come to think of it, I still need a rubric. I was thinking of making my final presentation an actual fight, but that might not fall through, I need to see if there is some upcoming event that I can compete in. I wanted to participate in the Golden Gloves this year just to see how I stack up against other people but that didn't happen.

Now I'm searching for something else. I'll talk to some of my instructors this weekend and see what I can do. If I do somehow get a fight, I am probably going to have to cut some serious weight, plus I was told to start already so we'll see how that goes. If I don't get a fight, then I still have to work on a plan B.
Pretty much, I think I've left this off pretty late and now I'm going to have to play catch up for some time. I think I might just continue working on my web page and uploading videos just in case I don't get a fight.

As for the rubric...if I get a fight...judge my performance, win= 100....loose...idk F?
For the web page I was thinking on grading in accuracy of detail and aesthetics. But nothing is certain.

  1. When it comes down to the fight, I hope you were kidding about the grading. As for fighting skills, you might have more than the entire senior class combined, so your grade should reflect the work YOU put in, not the difference between that and the work your opponent put in. A win would definitely be a 100, but the grade would have to be submitted by your coach to accurately reflect your effort. However, competing in a fight would be a great final presentation, and I would be in attendance to see that. Good luck!

  2. Thank you James,
Although I wouldn't say that I am better than the class combined (I think Shomari moved up to a black belt tae kwon do). You are right when you say the effort I put in should count as well so I am now considering getting some sort of written report from Pat (my boxing coach) to see what he thinks of my improvement.

When I was doing Jiu-Jitsu it was much easier to compete,my gym is strongest in Jiu-Jitsu, but now that I left it, it might be harder to get some competition. Fighting Amateur MMA takes a lot and I still haven't found something for sure in boxing. However, I do plan on returning to BJJ in the summer, and if I'll let you know when I compete.

By the way I was indeed joking about the grade...it would be silly to think for sure that I can beat an opponent before ever seeing them.
